I read this book to determine if my eight year old was mature enough for the content. I found that I enjoyed the read. The characters are engaging, and the action is well paced. I've decided that my child isn't quite ready for some of the violence in this book. There are some murders of the animals by other animals, which I think could be upsetting for a sensitive animal lover. I will recommend this for her when she gets older.

I am not the target audience for this type of book. I read it in preparation for Battle of the Books. Will I read the sequels? No. Did I find it a little too dramatic? Yes. Was I also surprised that I actually kind of enjoyed it? Yes.

This author definitely knows the art of world-building. I think that this book is a great fantasy read. I would recommend ages 8-13.

4.5 stars.
This was really great. It was such an engrossing story and it spilled across the pages so vividly, I felt like I was there. I love Fearless, and Thorn, but Sky the most. I love that even though it’s a children’s book, there are so many real world themes throughout it, I think anyone of any age could really enjoy it. I can’t wait to read the next book!

This was a highly anticipated read for me. I’ve been a longtime fan of Erin Hunter’s other series, Warriors, and was hoping that this book would be as good as the Warriors books. Boy, was I wrong. The characters and some of the concepts in it just seemed like a remix of Warriors but with different animals, names of things and set in the African savannah. It felt like Erin Hunter was trying to feed off of the success of Warriors by remaking it and tweaking some things. For any fans of Warriors who are looking for more material to read, I suggest you read Warriors. For me, Broken Pride seemed like a lazy recolor of the Warriors series and a big letdown. 2.5/5 stars.
