4.5- I liked the first one a little bit better, but both very good. Highly recommend.
I wanted to DNF book 1 so bad but am soo so so happy I didn’t because this one/book 2 was really good! Unfortunately you have to read book 1 to understand the story/plot and to avoid spoilers.
Maybe a re-read of book 1 will be better the second time.

This was disappointing. The characters lacked a lot of depth for me. The pacing was off for me. I couldn't tell if a lot of time passed by or not. I personally do not enjoy main characters with rose tinted glasses.
Please skip, if you don't want spoilers.
Am I the only one disappointed that they both didn't die at the end? I just feel like it was such a cop out that they can relinquish the gods power if the other parties agree to it. If the author was just going to do that, then why didn't Lan and Zen tricked the other two villains to take their gods and then vanquish those two? Wouldn't that mean both of them survived?
