This was a quick read! And wow, Neil is likeably unlikeable. XD It was great to see him open up to Wyatt. I was definitely rooting for him, even though he's a pretentious idiot.

CW: transphobia, homophobia, deadnaming/misgendering, light sexual content, previous death of parent, dysphoria, very brief derogatory HP reference

I'm conflicted on this read. On one hand, I enjoyed it. Yet, I found Neil to be a very annoying character. While I am happy about his growth AND how he was called out on his actions, I still didn't like him. Wyatt was my saving grace!

Okay I actually don’t know what to write. This book was great, informative and heartbreaking, and loving and sad and happy and intense and all the words rolled into one. I can’t believe I got it as a library book cause now I have to go out and buy it because this will ba must have in my collection. Neil and Wyatt are a love story for the books and I would love to read more about characters like them.
The pop culture references were a little cringe at times, but can be completely overlooked because this book puts all of the feelings on paper.

Crying score: How could you not?

Overall I enjoyed this book. However, it didn’t really give “enemies to lovers”. It felt more like privileged to pitied, and I’m sorry but I didn’t really like Neil.
He and his family are extremely classist and suddenly at the end of the book that’s not forgotten about because all along they had trauma?? No.

But I like Wyatt, Wyatt is awesome.
Also, I notice how Deaver purposefully made Neil fat. I am glad for the representation but it’s hardly ever mentioned and is always sort of subtle. Which I think doesn’t have to be a positive or negative thing, but a lot of fans seem to have interpreted Neil to be slim in fan art. So this isn’t really a comment on the book but the readers. Neil is a fat trans man, stop drawing tall skinny white boys with perfect features.

I know their song is All That and I respect that but throughout my reading I kept going back to Automatically in Love. Wonderful book.

This book had me hooked from the first page and as a trans man, i loved reading about a T4T romance. (more of that in media please) Honestly the main character left me feeling frustrated maaaany times but his character development was the best! Really had a good time with this one and man i just love everything Mason Deaver writes, they're amazing.

And omg.. the way the first line of this book is "I love you." and the last one is "I love you too." PERFECT. COULDN'T BE MORE PERFECT.
