This is my third time reading Frankenstein, and it will never cease to amaze me. It is an incredible book in every way and everyone should read it at least once in their life.

yeah so i think i would have rated this 5 stars if not for the incest. unfortunately it did get extremely distracting, especially during the last bit of the book (he legit would talk about elizabeth being his cousin/sister in every other fucking sentence). frankenstein’s monster had the best chapters, his account & ending monologue were great. i loved the themes and unreliable narration.

Victor Frankenstein could’ve avoided a lot of the misery he suffered had he just listened to the creation and shown empathy instead of whining about his own suffering.

What even is there to say? A year without summer produced one of the most important texts ever. A meditation on grief buried underneath the cold, hard earth of one of the most awful things to ever be imagined. A man created life and it brought nothing but misery and suffering to everything he held dear.

The creature's POV is most definitely the best part of this novel. I find Victor insufferable and not in any interesting way. I wish the novel focused more on the relationship between creator/creation than Victor's emotions.
Of course, this is an unprecedented and groundbreaking work which deserves its accolades.
