I’ve never read this story and I downloaded the Audible Original where Scarlett Johansson reads it. I highly recommend this audiobook - Scarlett is delightful and chock full of great character voices

4,5 Sterne.
Ich bin ganz zufrieden mit die Alice-Bücher. Überraschenderweise fand ich den zweiten Band besser als der erste. Den ersten Band würde ich mit 4,5 Sterne bewerten und den zweiten mit 3,5 Sterne.

Erstmal zum ersten Band:
Ohne eine wirkliche Erklärung zu haben mochte ich das Buch. Es war verrückt, wild und überhaupt nicht vorhersehbar. Die Story war kaum vorhanden - falls es eine gab, aber ich mochte die kleinen Abenteuer von Alice und die Wortspiele waren geil und witzig. Gerade der Schreibstil ist besonders hervorzuheben. Es war für mich echt flüssig zu lesen und damit hatte ich eigentlich nicht gerechnet.

Zum zweiten Band:
Mich hat das Schachspiel-Thema sehr überzeugt und in einen Bann gezogen. Außerdem sorgte es jedenfalls etwas für “Struktur”. Die ganzen Twists am Ende fand ich genial und den Übergang zum Ende war echt super gemacht. Dafür war aber Alice nicht so präsent wie beim ersten Teil, für mich jedenfalls.

Im Allgemeinen hatte ich echt Spaß die Alice-Bücher zu lesen. Beide Bücher sind sehr besonders und speziell. Es ist echt keine klassische Kindergeschichte. Deswegen denke ich, entweder man mag das, was der Autor gemacht hat oder eben nicht.

For some reason, it was a hard read for me. It couldn't command my attention.
I have to admit it was brilliant. And I see why it's a classic. It's just not my cup of tea. LOL
Though I would have to say, I liked THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS better than ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
