Fun, weird, way more Gothic than I anticipated. I wish I got magic witch powers when I survived a breakup, damn.

Maybe it says a lot about me that I did not find this book to be overly dark. I did find it to be extremely human; which I suppose is a darkness of its own.
I did not want to put this book down and if it wasn't for my job would have read it in one sitting.
As a woman in the current political climate this book could almost be a manifesto for the survival.

A solid 4 stars read, a really fun reading experience with a distinct, cosy setting and memorable cast of characters.
I've really enjoyed all of Rachel Harrison's books that I've read so far. This one definitely felt light on the horror and a little more family friendly, which didn't impede my enjoyment at all but maybe capped it a little just because of the type of horror I enjoy. It had a more fun witchy halloween feel to it rather than stronger horror elements. I imagine this would be a good introduction for people who want a seasonal halloween read without the scare or gore
