The author puts a personal spin on many of the recipes, creating a cookbook that also reads like a diary, as the author states in the introduction. I plan to try some of the recipes, particularly ones from the breakfast and dessert categories. Instructions don't account for the need to press tofu thoroughly before it can be browned. Recipe blurbs seem a bit salesy and hyperbolic. I found some combinations odd, like Chinese salad ingredients over spaghetti and lentils over mashed potatoes.
