i think i enjoyed this one more than the ex hex. i liked the dynamic between gwyn and wells, and the little mysterious/suspenseful subplot was enjoyable. this series reads much a like a halloween-type of hallmark movie, which isn't necessarily bad, but it isn't my favorite style.

⚠️: kidnapping, blood, violence, torture, death of parent, injury/injury detail, fire/fire injury

“Gwen had no doubt that whoever he was, his ancestors had absolutely once stared down the business end of guillotine.
You don't get cheekbones like that without oppressing some peasants.”

After reading The Ex Hex I didn't know what to expect of this book. I knew that this was an enemies-to-lovers story and that its my favorite troupe. So, there was a change that I would love this book. Spoiler alert: I really liked this book! More than its predecessor.

Its a funny, lighthearted story with a side of mystery and a talking cat, that I really liked and found entertaining. Gwyn and Wells are perfect both as enemies and lovers. The story has a great pacing and it is well-structured!

I really liked it, and I'm now excited for the third installment of this series!

I did not expect to love this one more than the first, but I did!!! I adored getting to know Gwyn and Wells and really loved their characters from the get go, and I love the character development throughout. Their personalities felt realistic yet unique to read about, and I appreciated how reasonable and mature they both were, even with the third act conflict of their relationship. They started as soft enemies to rivals to allies to lovers and I loved it!! They didn’t spend excessive energy hating each other to keep the plot going which I appreciated. I also loved Sir Purrcival and the baby witches. There were a few twists towards the end (some I foresaw and some I didn’t), but I felt like the climax and resolution happened too fast. But other than that, I loved everything about this cozy witchy romance with a solid plot! The audiobook was better too because the Welsh accents were more prominent on this book than the last. I’m excited to see where the story goes in another book (hopefully!)

Just like The Ex Hex, this book was fun, emotional, ✨spicy✨ and just an all-round great witchy romance. I think, the only thing that I wasn’t a huge fan of was how fast everything happened in the storyline: there wasn’t much of a romantic build up for an enemies to lovers arc and the unfolding of other events came and went pretty fast too. I felt like at some points I had accidentally missed a chapter when in reality, the plot had just processed so quickly.
Other than that, it was so enjoyable and I loved Gwyn in the first novel as a secondary character so it was great to experience life and love with her in this novel as the main protagonist. Wells also has my heart, but Rhys will always be my no.1 ❤️
