When I got the book, I didn’t realize it was non fiction and a memoir. Neither are something I’d normally choose to read. I still thought it was cute.

Cute memoir told in comics. I like how things are a little scattered and then finally come together. It’s like how our memory really works.

Not sure it was acceptable at the time, but there is wording that is definitely not acceptable by today’s standards. There is reference to acting autistic and some suggestions of transness.

The paneling is okay, and I really like the meta-texuality in the relationship between image and text - general the bits about story telling both in its meant to be shared and in the means of memories and making sense of life for oneself were the interesting parts for me.
As a family story autobiography it was okay but I felt the lack of depth in her mothers part of the story, which is okay Alison can tell this story however they want but also, yeah I would love to see the counter balance on it.
The part that really made me cry and one part that gonna stick with me is the OCD memories.

A queer masterpiece. Complicated, beautiful. Rich with literary allusions. A queer English major's wet dream.
