Perfect time to read this book. Published in 1962 but very relevant. "....a civilization is not destroyed by wicked people; it is not necessary that people be wicked but only that they be spineless."

James Baldwin talking about Elijah and the Nation of Islam was really my favorite bits to read
It's always interesting to see how I agree or disagree with different Black thinkers

James Baldwin, to me at least, was a master of both the written and spoken word. Highly recommend.
So, so glad I finally took the time to pick up this gem.

Unsurprisingly this is incredible. I recommend reading it physically though because I had a constant urge to annotate and highlight passages.

Possibly the most poignant prose in the history of everything.
