Didn't enjoy it. The plot of the first 14% is a summary of generational trauma and none of the characters were even remotely relatable or likeable.

The book goes from present day to history of her life when she was a small child, but also history of when her mother was a child. Its hard to keep up, to remember who is who and which timeline we are currently in. I found it frustrating jumping from different timelines. I didn't see why this was relevant, didn't find any of it adding to the story of the "present day". I didn't like the way the author writes and i had to re-read majority of the pages as the story wasn't holding my attention.

This book is haunting and beautiful at the same time. The characters were incredibly vivid and traceable meaning that you could feel how torn apart Elle is between the past and the present. Lovely depiction of nature and the fragility of relationships.
So much (!!!) emotional trauma in one book. Please check the trigger warnings, it gets pretty graphic.

Just endless acts of violence against women and children and violent imagery. Tiring and characters are shallow and without any redeeming qualities.
