Grady Green is an up and coming author. He is at home waiting for his agent and publisher to call to tell him that his latest book is a New York Times best seller. His wife, Abby, is on the way home to celebrate with him. He’s on the phone with Abby when she says there is a woman in the middle of the road. She tells him that she’s getting out of the car to check on this woman. Grady advises against it, but she’s can’t leave someone in the middle of the road. Grady continues trying to talk to Abby from the phone, but she’s never gets back in the car. Grady gets there, the door is open, the cell phone is in the holder, but no Abby. A year later, still no news of Abby. In the meantime, Grady can’t sleep; he can’t write; and he’s a mess. His agent lets him use a cabin she inherited on a small island in Scotland. She is hoping some rest, some walks in nature, and some quiet will help restart Grady’s writing. However, soon after arriving, Grady sees a woman who looks just like his wife. Is it possible that she’s still alive and on the same island? I had a lot of fun reading this book, until the end. There are a few twists at the end that seemed kind of weak and didn’t make much sense. However, I did like how the book ended. So, I’m giving this book 4 stars because I did enjoy reading this book, even if the twists were disappointing.

This was like an elevated psychological thriller. Definitely more substance than your standard mystery. It captured my attention til the end too.
