While the main female character (FMC) didn't entirely resonate with me due to moments where she seemed somewhat immature for her age of 17, I found solace in the growth and maturity displayed towards the end of the book. The unexpected conclusion departed from the typical YA book endings, which added a refreshing twist. This adorable YA story captivated me with its easy-to-read narrative and short chapters, a characteristic I always appreciate. However - overall, I regretfully concluded that this book was not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I believe that a younger audience may find it enjoyable. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to NetGalley and Alison Schaffir for providing me a copy of this book.

A typical YA romance book imo! I think if I were reading this when I first started high school, this would be way more enjoyable and cute. Lots of typical relationship cliches and problems, miscommunication, spiraling reactions-- all of the typical things that happen when you're young and haven't fully developed yet (but these actions will lead to that growth). I wasn't able to really connect with the characters too much and the love part even fell a little flat to me. But it also reminded me of when I would get a crush on some rando in high school after saying literally 1 word to them so...i get it !!

Thought I would love it way more because I love reading about fashion and sewing and cute lil romances but didn't hit the spot for me. I WILL SAY, I didn't expect this type of ending for a YA book!
Spoiler they parted ways and decided not to try long distance. vs the typical HEA that YA has

"Unraveled Dreams" is a YA novel that seamlessly weaves together themes of ambition, friendship, and self-discovery. Seventeen-year-old Scarlett, with her passion for fashion and aversion to the spotlight, is a relatable and endearing protagonist. Her journey from sneaking into the school's costume shop to pursuing her dream of becoming a renowned fashion designer is both inspiring and heartwarming.

The author's adept storytelling introduces Nathaniel Wilder, a talented theater student who becomes an unexpected source of inspiration for Scarlett. Their budding friendship adds depth to the narrative as Scarlett navigates the challenges of mastering sewing skills and balancing her passion for fashion with her desire to be closer to Nathaniel for the school play.

As Scarlett's designs begin to take shape, the novel takes an unexpected turn with a distressing event involving her best friend, Macie, which tests their friendship and causes Nathaniel to pull away. The author skillfully builds tension as Scarlett faces not only personal setbacks but also external challenges, including a rival intent on tarnishing her reputation.

What sets "Unraveled Dreams" apart is its portrayal of resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Scarlett's unwavering spirit and newfound sewing skills serve as a testament to the power of pursuing one's dreams, even when faced with obstacles. The novel's engaging plot and well-developed characters kept me invested from start to finish, rooting for Scarlett every step of the way.

The only reason I am giving this book a 3 stars is because at times it felt so juvenile.

This book was given to me as an arc read and all opinions are my own. Thank you, NetGalley for giving me a chance to review this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book. The views in this review are entirely my own.

I’ll keep this one pretty short. I did not love this one. I enjoy a lot of YA books but it felt very juvenile to me. A lot of the dialogue (internal especially) for Scarlett read a lot younger than seventeen. I had a hard time being invested in the characters as well. Macie was kind of a brat. And Nathaniel had a really stupid reason for ghosting her towards the end. Just not my favorite.

This book had an amazing premise and amazing characters, but somehow it ends up falling short, like idk if it's because of their age or the fact that is a YA but something on it didn't do it for me. Still the story is really good and perfect for those younger readers.

For a YA romance book, it's incredibly cute and adorable. Really plays into that first love vibe where you fall head over heals while also dealing with friendship drama. And props to the author for including a serious plotline with Macie and how she dealt with that but a part of me also feelings like it was a secondary plotline that wasn't wrapped up very well in the end and was used more as a plotline for Scar than Macie.

However, the only issue is that I did kind of want Scar and Gavin together towards the end.

Overall, I feel the book could have done with being a bit longer, it has so much potential but could have done for feeling a little bit more at the ending rather than eh.

Thank you to NetGallery for providing this ARC
