I think the community average for this book is pretty spot on. Officially my ranking falls somewhere between 3.9-4.0.

I really like almost everything this book seemingly changed or was cut out of the movie as it went along. Everything with Peter is heartbreaking if you've seen the movie. Saaviks storyline as half Romulan is so good I'm so sad it was cut from the movie. Chekov, Sulu, and David Marcus having more character moments in this is great.

So much better than the first movies novel a great author will elevate an already great story. I love little character moments and because it's in book format we're allowed to have more of those. Although, the torture scene is pretty brutal.

It’s a whole other beast in comparisons to part one. It might not be as fun but it packs a hell of a punch in terms of narrative and character and with satisfying storytelling and one hell of a villain it’s a great addition to the franchise.

A deeper look into Lt. Saavik's history that really enhances your understanding of the movie upon rewatch.

Read this because I had nothing else at the beach. Enjoyable for fans of the movie since it gives a lot of extra background, particularly about Saavik.
