I have never given whaling so much thought before and how bizarre it is once you really start to think about it! Also, is this a book about capitalism?

Allt sem ég heyrði um þessa bók var lygi. Þetta var erfiðasti lestur lífs míns. Bókin er fáránlega racist og höfundurinn gat augljóslega ekki ákveðið það hvort að hann ætti að skrifa náttúrufræðibók eða skáldsögu svo að hann gerði bæði í einu á mjög misheppinn hátt.

Had to force myself to finish in the end. A fascinating read but often an absolute slog due to the side notes on whale biology and irrelevant details that are occasionally thrown in. I like complex prose, but at times I felt it wasn't doing anything but being complex.
