I'm glad I read this during the day with happy kitties lol. Dark Places is a demented, gory, dark suspenseful book with characters I'm not quite sure I like. It's is a murder mystery in which Libby's brother Ben is in jail for murdering his Mom and 2 sisters (but did he do it?) but Libby got away and survived. Each chapter is told by the person's perspective and jumps from the present to the past. I'll definitely read another of Flynn's books

2.5 stars. The beginning and middle just dragged on in my opinion. I wish it was shortened and I could’ve enjoyed it more. I didn’t find myself wanting to read it until the last 20% of the book. It also usually never takes me this long to read a book.

A lone survivor of her family's murder is forced to face the fact she doesn't know the whole truth.

With alternating chapters set in present and the night of the murders, it is a creepy ride as you slowly discover the truth as the narrator dives deeper into that fateful night.

The book starts a little slow and the motivation to get Libby to start investigating the murders is a bit weak but once it starts I found myself needing to know the truth.
