An excellent new series.

I read of lot of urban fantasy books and I’m always on the look out for a new series. I really enjoyed this one. I’m looking forward to the next book.

DNF at 60%. This isn’t for me. It’s written in first person yet so many secrets about the FMC are kept from the reader. Isn’t first person supposed to be more insightful? Why is so much kept from the reader?! It might as well be written in 3rd person because that’s what it reads like! We didn’t even get her name until chapter 8 and then her was sister was referred to as “the girl” until we finally learned her name. WHY?! IT’S IN FIRST PERSON. Keeping the reader in the dark for such minute details isn’t suspenseful mystery, it’s a lazy plot device!

The insta-love was ridiculous, too. I like fated mates, but this was like nuclear sexual tension out of nowhere which makes it completely unbelievable. It felt almost icky because they bonded at their second meeting when she was trying to fight him off. No thanks.

I was interested in this book at the beginning and then it slowly started grinding on my nerves until I couldn’t read it anymore.

More Fantasy with a love interest but...

Decided to give this a shot from a FB post author with a blurb. The blurb was slightly misleading because it made it sound like a paranormal romance, but it isn't. BUT, with that being said, I 100% loved this book! Although I do prefer more storyline with the MC and FC in the books, this story includes much more evolved supporting characters in the book; it is not just paranormal romance. I would call this a fantasy book with a love interest included.

It has been awhile since I have read a fantasy book but I do enjoy the genre so I didn't necessarily feel like I was getting shorted anything when I got to the end.

Looking forward to what the next book brings!

I started out a bit bored by this book, hence the 4 stars. But it got infinitely better by the time I was 1/3 of the way in. I enjoy the main character arc for Piper thus far...and I immediately opened the second book.
