So, here’s the thing. It’s an easy read and the plot and concept is interesting enough to finish it through. However, the world building is really dull. You have a concept that could be so rich in description yet I have no idea what New Chicago is like. Piper, Nat and Ronan felt like empty husks and I just didn’t find them to be very compelling over believable. I feel like this book needed to be a lot longer, which is why I’m curious to read book two and give it another chance. This is a great story in theory, it just needs more life.
Well holy hell, where to even start? I loved every second of this nonstop adventure. Piper is a total badass, she's the best bounty hunter out there, and she has a huge, and I mean HUGE secret.
When she takes a job from the big bad Boss of New Chicago, and it doesn't go how it's supposed to, it put's Piper in between a rock and a hard place. She will have to get very creative and maybe shed some secrets to make it out alive.

Piper is introduced as a kick-butt human making her mark in a supernatural world as a supe bounty hunter. She is a badass and ruthless main character that knows how to fight, not shy when it comes to voicing her thoughts and is sarcastic as hell with the mouth of a sailor, my favourite characteristics of a MC. She gets herself into trouble, and she knows how to get herself out of it. She doesn't need help; from anyone.
As the story progresses, the secrets she is hiding and the past she is paying for start to be revealed. Piper grows as a “friend” and she grows as a person. Nat is an amazing character that pushes Piper into that growth. Also, there is Ronan. He wants Piper; Piper doesn't want him,end of story I am hoping that he and Piper will clash in the sequel and that it’s an explosion of both hate and passion. Cause you know the best enemies in novel make the best bed buddies.
This book is action packed. There is barely any down time for the characters. It’s fast paced and pushes you to keep reading till the cliffhanger of an ending. I could not put it down. The story is very character driven and you can see character development, even though there are lots of things still unanswered. I am still debating where the loyalties of characters lie and I am trying to figure out what the goals of some characters are. Now, while the focus is on the characters, the story is still really interesting. There are some things we’re still left in the dark about and that only makes my need for the sequel bigger.
Overall, Touched by Fire is a binge-worthy book!

This is a really interesting story. I really like the female main characters but the male main characters are too generic for me. The story took me places I wasn't expecting so I'm curious how this series will play out.

enjoyed this so much more than I expected to. The Lara Croft looking cover had me a bit dubious, because I hate strong female characters that get put into ridiculously skimpy outfits. But from reading the book, the main character favours jeans and turtle necks - so not sure what the cover is about.
I really enjoyed the story, the main character is such a strong, kick ass lead - and she doesn’t swoon the moment a man looks in her direction. She doesn’t even need a man to save her. There’s also some great friendship and female bonding that I enjoyed.
Looking forward to book two and seeing where this goes.
