Confused by the 3.97 average tbh. The plot choices and the way the male characters are written, possessive or not, is pretty disgusting and the FMC’s interaction with them is a direct contrast to how the author write her. Also just a very predictable plot, nothing special.

Now this is the kinda fantasy that I'd love to read. Excellent world-plotting, and very happening plot that hardly stagnates, badass and capable characters that don't whine for two whole pages, and filled with intriguing magical elements!
I loved Piper. She's a badass. No other way to put it. But dear lord was she dense at times lol. Her hatred for magic and her sky-high walls built of trust issues were just unbeatable. She was the grumpy in this story!
And then came Nathalie. The sunshine. Piper's tagline would be "or...I'd shoot you" and she'd be casually throwing it around Nat like there was no tomorrow and Nat would only find it amusing. They're such a pair.
I love how the author didn't make Nat out to be a wimp in comparison to Piper, and mad respect for that! I mean Piper's such a badass, and anyone would pale when compared to her in terms of bravery and self-sufficiency. So to take a sunshine persona and put her right next to Piper, and make her just as strong and capable as her, is just mind-blowingly cool. Like YES, a girl can be hot, grumpy baddie, and YES, a girl can be sunshine, feminine baddie!
Respect for Nat for not cowering for Piper. Like Nat just saw through Piper's bs and was never afraid to call her out. I love this. Bcoz (I've got terrible memory and I might've forgotten) I feel like there aren't enough female friendships in fantasy. Like a capable girl-duo. So the girl's girl in me is screaming in excitement!
Ronan..the potential MMC. Well dude srsly got overshadowed by the two females. But I like him..he's def got the demon thing going for him. And the narrator did such a good job on him!
Can't wait to see how the next book turns out!
P.s: this is the kinda fantasy that you want turned into kids cartoon. Ik that's questionable given this is potentially 18+, but srsly remember there was a cartoon called W.I.T.C.H? Yeah well I devoured that cartoon as a kid, and the elements of this series seem to be as vivid as those of that cartoon!

Fast pace, exciting, the Story was intriguing! I Really have to know how the story continues
I was pleasantly surprised by this book and the author’s writing skill. This was the first time I’ve come across her and it was on IG of all things. It was a bundle deal, and the book summary was interesting so I bought it. It was my first time using Book Funnel as well. A pretty simple buying experience.
I was engrossed from beginning to end. The heroine was not a whiny mess just wanting for some guy to love her. I would have liked it to be a bit spicier but understood it’s a slow burn. I’m also eager to learn more about this world and finish Piper’s story. So glad I chose this after finishing the Throne of Glass series. It is a light, short read comparatively and holds its own in the storytelling department. Kel just made a new fan.
