This book was recommended to me by a librarian while I was browsing. He said, I think you'd like the audiobook, it's narrated by a Black British guy.
Do I feel incredibly called out? Yes. Was this librarian right? Completely spot on. Loved the mixture of fantastic elements like magic, ghosts, etc with a crime investigation. (Shoutout to Elatsoe for introducing me to that in the first place). If you don't mind some pretty gruesome descriptions of violent crimes, check this out.

A delightfully weird and promising start to a whole new world in urban fantasy, set in my most favourite city, London. Can't wait to read the rest.

Crisp and entertaining, with a really wonderful sense of place. Peter's wry and slightly cynical observations are what keeps this moving along, even though I feel the magic system is a little slapdash. Still, I was amused through the whole thing and am looking forward to picking up the next in the series.

I really liked the premise and was interested in the characters, but I got sick of the main character's obsession with sex- he sounded like a 14 year old going through puberty who was suddenly unable to look at anything but tits. I tried to look past it but it was every interaction he had with any woman- exhausting and weird.
