Such a fun and fascinating world! There is some plot closer to the end but most of it is just the MC exploring his sexuality within the magical system he recently discovered.

The overuse of goose flesh was annoying. I also (spoiler) disliked the very end of imposter syndrome where he barely expresses this throughout the book.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this book so stay with me here. This book was recommended to me on TikTok and it seemed like such a silly name I was hesitant and then even more hesitant when I found out that the POV character was a dude but holly hell am I glad that I kept reading. First off this book has never met the concept of a slow burn, we were right into the action (and I do mean action) within the first like, chapter or two (I read on kindle so like 8% of the way into the book). Also not a drop of toxic masculinity to be seen – just incredible healthy loving relationships and well adjusted male characters. Separate from how hot the sex is which I will be getting back to this honestly might be the most interesting and creative magic system I have ever encountered. Essentially magic is created by wizards – people who have a natural talent for it, they create a spell which is then able to be used later, and of course, the way to make a spell is through sex. There are different kinds of magic that can be made and of course, different kinds of sex make different magic, for example divination is done by sensory depravation – to see into the future or somewhere else you restrict the senses. Basically everything has a reason and it is so cool from just a world building perspective. And then on top of that, the sex is fucking hot. Even kinks that are not my particular kink the author does such an incredible job describing that I was hella hot the whole time reading it. All in all just really really good, perfect amount of plot where the story is intriguing and not just sex but also lots and lots of sex. Also an incredibly diverse main group of characters and very queer also which is just awesome to see.

Harry Potter but make them adults and the magic source is horniness and orgasms. I was so surprised by how well written this was and how good the world building is. It’s not just sex and magic. The story line was really good. I am diving right into the next one! Please check trigger warnings, off page SA, and references to it. Agree 100% with other reviewers, this book is horny af and does indeed include a ton of butt stuff. It offers a great representation of non-toxic masculinity, gives a great overview of lots of different types of kink and depicts really lovely aftercare. The story was fun, at heart it is a freaky twist on a “most special boy” story - ie main character is the most special boy who turns out to be a magical genius AND (lucky him) is a great sex partner. I don’t know if I will search out the sequels, however if they come my way I certainly won’t turn them down. This was a fun read for choosing to lean into the genre of fantasy smut.

I picked this book up out of morbid curiosity after seeing it on instagram, just to see how a "kink based magic system" worked. While I mostly expected my very asexual brain to panic 20 pages in and give up, I not only finished the book but actually liked it, too.

Overall:
This book is way spicier than my usual preference of little to none, but the world building and characterization were both compelling. It left me with possibly more questions than I started with, but in the good way that makes me want to read the next book to get the answers.

Things I liked:
-The characters in this book are kind. That's so refreshing to see. They consistently support each other and hold each other up.
-Interesting characters, enough that I'd read a story focusing on pretty much any of them.
-The magic system. I was nervous about it, but it's handled with lots of discussions of consent and boundaries. I like it as a sort of twist on the old fantasy trope of "all magic comes with a price." Except, instead of firstborn children or treasured memories or years of life, the price is paid emotionally and physically through concrete but symbolic acts.
-It isn't explored in this book, but they do mention that the magic system works even if the wizard is sex averse. I was happy to see that stated so explicitly. I like reading books where people like me exist and even thrive.
-For a book that spends so much time on physical intimacy, it does a great job of also exploring other forms of intimacy between characters. There are a lot of strong friendships and family like bonds, as well as characters being emotionally open or vulnerable with each other.
-The main character is nervous and hesitant about a lot of the new things he's being asked to do. It made him feel realistic and relatable, more so than if he'd just been ready to jump into everything with a smile.

Things I didn't like:
-This is super minor, but I felt like sometimes the main character was agreeing to things without really knowing what he was agreeing to. It never seemed to bother him, and the other characters were very clear that he could always stop at any time, but I would have liked a little more emphasis on informed consent in the earlier chapters.
-I wish we got a bit more info on magical theory and history, but I'm guessing that will come up in later books. There's a lot of infrastructure required to perform magic this way, and I wonder how it worked before that infrastructure was built.

Other notes:
-This book is about a kink based magic system, and the majority of the book is exploring that. There is a plot, and it's well written with good foreshadowing throughout the book, but the story is more character driven than action oriented.
