This is such a bonkers book but quite a fun time. I quite liked the main three characters, and have some minor favorites I hope to see more of (Ambra my love). The romance was also very sweet for a book like this. Because the book tackles such a breadth of subject, not everything was to my taste but I think it made a valiant effort at trying to explain why someone would like it, even if some I really did not lol. I do wish Dom had said no, even once. This boy went from supposedly straight to a bi verse switch in like three days with no angst and never felt the need to stop anything. Like good for him but come on. It also gets weirdly dark in the final bit, though it fits the worldbuilding and was handled better than a lot of books so it didn't bother me much. Overall I enjoyed it and will be continuing on.

I thought the premise and the magic system was interesting. However, there is little plot to drive the narrative and the characters felt rather one dimensional to me. It almost felt episodic to a degree. The sex scenes were somewhat decently written at least.

Single POV. There is a whole magic system setup in this books and it’s very interesting. It also just happens to involve lots of different kinds of steamy scenes. Multiple different partners throughout (mostly 1 on 1 though a few group or group type scenes). And there is a plot. While the steam is Hot, this was also just a fun read and makes you feel so safe too.
CW is vague at the beginning but one for each chapter at the start of each due to the concept of the story.
DNF @ 18% aka almost 2 hours into the audiobook.
don't get me wrong Blake Lockheart was killing the narration, but the story itself i don't think is my cup of tea... Its a wizarding school that to get a spell you do some sort of BDSM play to charge the 'focuses' and then you have sex then bam focus is all charged and ready to use as a spell, haha i got about 3 focuses in and i can tell i am not going to love this story.
this had an MF, MM and looks to be another MF sexy time all with Dominai aka Dom, (the wizard in training) learning from the teachers/masters of the different BDSM crafts..
it had potential, but idk i didn't connect with any of the characters i do think that Olbric was my fave of the characters we met so far, but i just couldn't care about the main character to continue.
i am bummed because who wouldn't want to read about sex wizards?! haha but sadly, i apparently don't want to read about sex wizards haha.

Initiation is an exceptionally unique tale of wizards who use components of the B D S M Lifestyle to cast spells. I thought the author did a wonderful job using the potential triggers as spell-casting components. It gave the reader a direct heads up as to what they are about to dive into during that chapter.
I also enjoyed how fluid the characters are and how interwoven fantasy is throughout the story. Overall, I really loved it and can't wait to explore the rest of the series.
Still 5 stars, easily.

this story is very much about the relationships 🥵 not the plot.
This story delves into the world of different kinks. Each chapter has a brief description of the type that is involved in that chapter. The plus with not being plot-focused is if there is a chapter you don't feel like you want to read and skip ahead, you aren't missing much. You can get caught up pretty quickly on plot points that were touched on in the skipped chapter.
I love the idea behind the magic system, I think it was a fun unique system. The characters were very loveable (well most of them lol). Part of me does wish that there was more depth to the plot aspect since i was intrigued by the world created and would have loved to get more world-building information. But that was not the focus of the book. If you are looking for a book that has a good balance this is not the book. But if you're looking for something to maybe expand your knowledge of kinks a bit more or sole for the spice, then oh yeah this is the book for you.
