Two well-crafted books with great worldbuilding in one! A pageturner with vibrant characters.

In Tyen's story, the idea and mystery of Vella, were interesting from the beginning, the whole idea of having to flee for his life was a great way start-up for a longer series.

And in the end, for him to actually travel between worlds is just fun to read about.jehanne's review against another edition

I think the actually rating on this book should be 2 1/2 stars. The book had a great opening. The student, Tyen from an Academy of magic finds an ancient book in a cave that is blank. Through further inspection, the book can answer any question put to it, sort of like google. I found the book to be a little boring.

A 5 star idea and a 1 star execution. This book is divided into 2 main characters. So you get one character for 10 chapters or so, and then the next. And character #2 was BORING. After 10 chapters I gave up and skipped every section with her. The other POV was an interesting story externally, but actually reading it came across dull and flat. It’s too bad because their were two elements to the story that were fascinating, but the book just didn’t work for me. Luckily, it was a goodwill find. I’ll pass it along and hopefully it works for the next person
