3.5/5. Same beautiful style of writing as Addie Larue, but perhaps just a simpler book (being much shorter) or perhaps pitched at slightly younger audience, so not quite as captivating. A good break as I'm in the middle of another series right now and always nice to have a standalone book.

(4.25) I was originally a bit bored and feeling let down until I reached some unidentifiable moment in the story that made me refuse to stop reading until I knew what happened next. The whimsical gothic atmosphere is sooo well done, as is the place behind the door and what lies in it.

This book is exactly what I needed, true it's not for everyone but it was perfect for me. I just love the spooky books. The writing was full of poetic prose and it was lyrical and different like a song full of meanings. It gave me a feeling I can't describe. The book was dark and gloomy, and done just right. I loved it.

This book reminds me a lot of Coraline, a magical world with an 'other' world.

I loved that our main character was disabled and incredibly headstrong. She has a lot going against her, but she always gets the last laugh.

The mysteries in this book are also very interesting, as well as how Olivia approaches them.

It took me a while to get fully into this book, but as I was given more and more clues, I really enjoyed it.
