Do I like the first book more? Yes. Do I think this one is better written? Also yes. This one just felt too superhero-y for me, but I gave it a slightly higher rating than Vicious because of the writing.

I read this straight after Vicious. I really enjoyed the new introduced characters, their pasts and developed superpowers. A few side characters got cut off quiet quickly before I could form a connection to them so the deaths didnt hit too hard for me. I loved the "found family" dynamic of Victor, Mitch and Syd. Overall recommend this duologie. Great writing style as well.

This book did a better job at giving some more depth to the relationship between Eli and Victor while establishing new interesting characters and finishing the character arcs of Sydney and Mitch.
