Emily Henry delivers Emily Henry. Emotional with moments of devastation. Solid romance. Very funny at times.

Also Julia Whelan is the queen of narrators and it was an all around excellent performance.

โ™ก Fake Dating
โ™ก Roommates
โ™ก Unexpected Friends to Lovers

This was honestly such a funny book.  The humor was amazing, I laughed so much.

Daphne moves in with Miles after their significant others break up with them to date each other, childhood friends who just had to break off a wedding and crash two lives apart.  Though without spoiling things, it works out in both Daphne and Miles favor.  So what better way to get back at their trash exโ€™s than to fake date each other?

Miles and Daphne had such a great dynamic, they were hilarious together, friends before anything else genuinely worked so well.  Both of them learning how to trust people again, healing from heartbreak and their past.

While this did have some more serious moments character history and their childhood traumas coming into play with their lives still.  I thought the character development with this was done really nicely.

For the most part things are lighthearted and a simply funny enjoyable read.

daphne vincent is a childrenโ€™s librarian & miles nowak is a bartender. theyโ€™re friends, but they quickly become better friends when both of their partners leave them for each other

daphne moves in with miles, since her ex moved his new boo in with him & miles now has an extra room. they begin to hang out. amid becoming best friends, they also begin to develop stronger feelings for each other

this book has all the fโ€™s - forced proximity, friends to best friends to lovers, and fake dating. and although this book has a lot of fโ€™s, it gets an a+ from me! ๐Ÿคญ

peter & petra deserved each other. i absolutely hated them

the writing is absolutely beautiful. i love the connection & tension between daphne & miles. their friendship blossomed beautifully. i love all of the friend dates that they went on. and it was immediately palpable when the connection began changing from best friends to lovers

the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star for me was the miscommunication. there were a few instances that couldโ€™ve been quickly resolved if they just paused & talked to each other!

the miscommunication between miles & his sister was also something i disliked. she felt like she was bothering him & keeping him from his full potential and he felt like he was letting her down, meanwhile they both were soooo grateful for each other ๐Ÿฅน

this was my first emily henry & i cannot wait to dive into more! i listened to the audiobook for this book & really enjoyed it

Loved this so much - my favorite Emily Henry so far. Iโ€™m so glad I bought/listened; Happy Place, last year, was my least fave - so I was a little wary heading into this one. I love the complexity of the charactersโ€™ backstories, and the ways in which they communicate and miscommunicate around the patterning they learned in their differently rough childhoods. All felt so real and thoroughly drawn, including for the side characters! I love Daphne and Miles so much, and their chemistry both together and in the web of friendships that populate the book. I love the way the food throughout the book gives us such a sense of place and care. So beautiful!! Made me so happy reading this that I drew it out a few days just to enjoy a little bit longer. โค๏ธ
