Picking up immediately after the end of The Serpent and the Wings of Night, The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King dives headfirst into Oraya and Raihn's stories after the fateful night of the Kejari. Both issued fatal blows, lives have been changed and now, both must find their footing on shifting ground and with each other.
The way I sobbed while reading this book. I'm completely and utterly blown away by how incredible this was as a follow-up to Serpent. I enjoyed the first book, I enjoyed getting into a world that is so rich with folklore and history and mess, but being able to see it all shift and change in this book was honestly a gift. It's so well written, so well crafted, and was impeccably pieced together in a way that I can't even fathom the amount of effort clearly went into it.
I like to keep my reviews fairly spoiler free, but I'll say there really isn't a man who compares to Raihn. I love him more than anything. I would wrap myself around him and stab anyone who touches him. The same goes for Oraya. The same for Vale and Lilith. And most certainly the same goes for Mische. I love them all, I love every single moment we got in these pages and the fact that there are FOUR more books set in this world thrills me to no end. Carissa Broadbent is really and truly one talented bitch and I'll be forever grateful that she decided to weave these stories together for readers.
I don't have anything else to say. Just do yourself a favor and read these books.
