The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King- 4.25⭐️ 3🌶️

Love is a sacrifice at the altar of power.

In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from a gutting betrayal, she no longer even knows the truth of her own blood. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn.

The House of Night, too, is surrounded by enemies. Raihn’s own nobles are none too eager to accept a Turned king, especially one who was once a slave. And the House of Blood digs their claws into the kingdom, threatening to tear it apart from the inside.

When Raihn offers Oraya a secret alliance, taking the deal is her only chance at reclaiming her kingdom–and gaining her vengeance against the lover who betrayed her. But to do so, she’ll need to harness a devastating ancient power, intertwined with her father’s greatest secrets.
But with enemies closing in on all sides, nothing is as it seems. As she unravels her past and faces her future, Oraya finds herself forced to choose between the bloody reality of seizing power – and the devastating love that could be her downfall

✨My Opinion✨
This was a good conclusion to Oraya and Raihn’s main story. This is planned to be a 6 book overall arc.

The slower pacing in the beginning helped reorient myself as I caught back up to the story. The continued presence of Vincent and his mysterious past was a really interesting way to bring in flashbacks. I liked it!

I really appreciated Oraya’s feeling of betrayal actually being put to the page, rather than being glossed over and passed by. It made her waking back up all the more satisfying. The ending left a lot of questions and loose ends to be chased, but the main love story was nicely closed.

The openings left- Mische, her story is pretty vague and to leave such an important side character just wide open for anything… I can’t wait for the next book (featuring her). And Nyaxia being so vengeful. It will be interesting to see how that is all concluded.

I love Carissa Broadbent’s writing and storytelling.

A FANTASTIC CONCLUSION FOR THE NIGHTBORN DUET!
Highly recommended for fantasy romance lovers who like to read books with;
• Enemies-to-Lovers
• Vampires
• Forced Marriage
• Forced Proximity
• Secret Alliance
• Betrayal
• Spicy scenes
• Epic Battles and Magic

The plot flows smoothly and keeps me interested from the beginning until the end. The story is well paced and well written. It shows all the emotions the characters were feeling and describe the places and battle scenes vividly.

The characters are one of my favorite parts, they are flawed which makes them feels real and relatable. There’s also huge character development for the characters, especially Oraya and I love seeing her grow in this book.
We also get to know more about Raihn and I could understand him better – he’s definitely entering my list of favorite book boyfriends.

This book is a page turner and an emotional roller coaster ride, you’ll find yourself smiling, screaming, getting nervous and feeling touched by some scenes throughout the story with all the angst, the anger, the tensions and the love.

Overall, this is a captivating, addicting and enjoyable duology. I thoroughly enjoy following the story of Riahn and Oraya, I feel satisfied with how everything got wrapped up in the end.

This book also give the readers a hint about book 3 cause the Crowns of Nyaxia series is not over yet.

I’m really looking forward to see what the next book in this series has to offer and other series from this author in the future!

“There was no such thing as love without fear. Love without vulnerability. Love without risk.”

Hugee thank you to Book of Matches Media and the author for giving me an e-ARC of the book and for having me on this book tour. I’m leaving this review voluntarily!
