This felt a little better than the first book for sure, but it didn't wow me.

I didn't expect to like this more than the first book, but here I am. Love the way this story does not shy away from complicated emotions while still making the characters pretty loveable, something I would not have thought possible after the ending of the first book. Again, I think this series is especially good with its themes (which I would describe as emancipation and identity) and the parent-child dynamic is still a 10/10.

I’m so happy with how it all ended for Oraya and Rhain! This was a satisfying read. The pacing was a bit slower than the last one, but it was still enjoyable nonetheless.

  • 2.5🌶️
  • This book was what I wanted the first book to be. There is still a lot that could be expanded on (with the gods) but the world building finally was in reach.
  • I loved the character arcs, banter, quotes and story twists throughout this book, and was much more invested than the first.
  • This book to me had a lot more action being enacted v. Telling people about actions that “could happen” which was a nice change from book 1. Instead of hearing about raw power it was seen and used.

Just when I thought Oraya and Raihn story couldn’t get any better. This book has a slower burn in the beginning but it ended so well. This book kept me on my toes. Dare I say it’s better than the first?
