This is a grief memoir in essays, which I wasn't expecting, but I enjoyed the main points of each essay and the takeaways from each. The 12 phrases such as "Tell Me More," "No," "I Love You," "I Was Wrong," and more are phrases we all don't say enough and it gives us permission to practice them more. But the main emphasis is on Corrigan's grieving over the death of loved ones. Keep that in mind if that's a place you're willing to go to, because it's not so apparent from the outset.

Kelly shares with us some incredible and genuine moments from her life. This reads as a fun convo with a friend. I love that she was honest about the ups and downs in her life and what grief is really like. It was a good read, but didn't pull me in too deeply. This is a good listen (or read) to provide some uplifting companionship without having to think too hard.

I skimmed the last 25% of this book. It got really hard to engage with because I felt like I’ve heard all these lessons from other authors before. I didn’t learn anything new and did not particularly enjoy the author’s voice. I appreciate that she wanted to be authentic, but there was simply too much cursing for me (I don’t mind some, but there was a lot of it). If I felt I was really gaining something from this book I could have overlooked it. It is a short, quick read.
