I loveeeed this book, I’m already so excited to return to it.
I love how it starts with a death that feels distant yet personal and ends with so much life that feels both distant and close. Also love the idea that a book that’s so contemplative ends by saying it’s all about moving.
so many really interesting things to think about in this book!! it’s so observant and transient and I love that combination, it works so well here. a beautifully written series of deep dives into the simplest moments. this book feels like taking a long walk through a new neighborhood on a brisk day but also like reading in a cozy nook. which is to say I highly recommend it lol

Not at all my usual kind of book-it’s more an extended character sketch than a novel. But Jhumpa Lahiri is such a wonderful writer and I enjoy being immersed in her language.

Lovely short stories about observations. I need to romanticize my everyday life more.

Geweldig.

Love the gentle, poetic descriptions of what it is to be human. Lahiri captures solitude, shame, grief with such beauty.

Lahiri never disappoints, really resonates with feeling lost and disillusioned. Something about solitude, something something grieving the life you live, still romantic and gentle
