This was not a book I particularly enjoyed reading, though I am unable to give it low ratings, simply for the fact that it is an amazing piece of sci-fi. Unfortunately, my tastes run more towards story and characters than precise and accurate science (though a good mix of both is always the best), and this book is supremely lacking in the kind of rich, delicious story telling I enjoy. I was also supremely put off by the character Dua, which was disappointing, as she was a strong, willful female, with ideals I could get behind, but she was presented in such a way that she was incredibly unlikable to me. I hate that (though still, kudos for including this kind of character at all). That said, it does deal with some very interesting ideas and themes, and was an enriching read, even if I found myself just wishing things would progress a little more quickly most of the time. Also, I had been planning to rate it two stars instead of three, but I found the last 10 pages so enjoyable that I had to bump it up. All in all, not my favorite read, and it certainly tested my patience to get through it, but still something I can see great merit in, despite my personal taste. :)

I didn’t care much for the first and third chapters, but loved the middle one.

I wish there was more about the alien race of the para universe. The ending was also too sudden for me. Other than that it was a good book! The very definition of science ficition.
