An early and decidedly mediocre Poirot mystery. All the threads are neatly wrapped up in the end, but overall the book feels much more scattered and flat than Christie's others.

How does she do it!? [a:Agatha Christie|123715|Agatha Christie|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1589991473p2/123715.jpg] is on fire as ever, and the thing that makes her stories stand out is that almost everything is dialogue. It's fascinating, really, how little description she includes, and yet you still feel engrossed in the rich character-driven stories. Poirot's character is smooth and viscious simultaneously. This tale of love and loss is wonderful, and contains a twist unpredictable. It is ripe for a grand film, and is a great book. Also the art deco design of the special edition is something else.
