You know that Jeanette Walls has talent when you are both horrified by and simultaneously rooting for her family. This was wildly entertaining and unexpected as a story and heartbreaking that it was her reality.

This book got me back into reading. My partner and I took turns reading it aloud together, and it was so hard to put down! The unfiltered honesty and detail that Walls puts into this memoir about her childhood is so gripping. You will be sad for her and her siblings, but you will be shocked and proud too.
