Yes, I did just completely bash the book before this... today. Yes, that one took me weeks to get through. Yes, I devoured this one in one day. Alright, I'll stop. What a 360 though. The break from the constant "Lily and Lo Show" was welcomed, and, like I knew they would be, Connor and Rose were a freaking delight to read about.

I could nitpick, I really could, as there are plenty of things to point out, but I'm not. I will even admit that some of my storyline qualms in my previous review might have been harsh, and I can see now maybe what they were trying to do (but also, I stand by my general complaint). Honestly, though, I was able to look past all of that simply because the characters are done so well here. If I hadn't struggled with the one preceding this, I might not have liked this one as much, and I'm aware.

One thing I know for sure: RICHARD F'ING CONNOR COBALT. He's easily made it into my top 10 favorite male characters ever, and that includes classics (I think... I reserve the right to change my mind should I acknowledge I may be reacting stupidly at this moment in time). But, Connor... damn. I love that pretentious, cocky, smart-ass nature in a male character when it's done right, and Connor is that dialed up to 100. Pair him with Rose? Yes, please. Speaking of which... I did NOT see the whole *spicy* angle of Rose's story coming but honestly, it was well done and actually makes sense, psychologically, in my opinion (pretty relatable too lmao).

Then, they just had to make Connor quote JD Salinger. As if I wasn't already foaming at the mouth (okay I'll calm down hahaha). It's going to be hard to move on to different characters, but it makes it easier knowing that we'll get to come back to these dreamboats soon.

Also, I love including quotes from other reviewers that put something in a way I couldn't, so here's one that I feel 100% (her whole review is spot on lol):

you're telling me that Mr. Richard Connor Cobalt, an alleged asexual dude who was like a "sponge" and wouldn't "notice if you hit on him", is actually what Christian Grey thinks he is but could never be???
