Wow, I greatly enjoyed this book. It is different from anything that I've read before. The characters are interesting. The plot and setting were new to me. I really really liked it!
This novel is advertised as the perfect book to read if you are missing Downton Abbey. And I am always missing Downton Abbey! It tells the story of a rich American girl who goes to England with her mother to find a titled husband.
After meeting a duke, they are engaged one week later and the main character is set on her path to become a duchess and take on the English social scene. However, the couple has their own unique pasts that cause conflict and strife in the marriage and the novel explores the pull of your heart, self respect, and money.

Switched to the audiobook around 50% through the book. Liked the audiobook better!
This is not the kind of book I usually read, but it caught my eye at the store and I decided to pick it up. It is a long book, but the pace is fairly fast. I never felt bogged down in detail or dialogue. The story was good, if a bit far-fetched (or is it? I wasn't alive during this time, so I don't know how often this kind of thing went down). My one bone to pick is this - Ivo is a dick. Cora should have gotten the hell out with that baby, but I realize that she doesn't live in 2011 and it wouldn't have been as easy for her as it would for someone now. Other than that, I enjoyed this read, even if it was VERY long!
