Not sure what to say. I was expecting something else. I mean I finished it but... I kept wanting something more. I'm not sure what I expected but focus on money and material objects, clothes, and semi aristocratic information bored me. It was very superficial. I like my books to have more substance.

I quite enjoyed this book and I'll give the author points for keeping me guessing right till the end about which choice the heroine would make. The historical details were fantastic and I liked that none of the characters were black and white, they all had nuances. I found one little typo - the hero says the family home was first built by Edward III in 1315 and then given to his ancestor as a reward for service in the Hundred Years War. Either she meant to say Edward II (as Edward III didn't come to the throne until 1327) or it should have read 1415. A little thing, to be sure, but one that jumped right out at me as I know that period well.

A very fluffy little book, that I very much enjoyed reading, but will not last past next weekend in my memory. However, I stayed up late to read it, and read it on the stationary bike, etc., so I must have liked it.

Wordy, but a good story. I loved the characters and when they interacted. That the reveal at the end encompassed little clues from the beginning was great.

Boring. Shallow. Don't bother.

Good solid historical fiction. Nothing too shocking or surprising but a quick read. I did admire that the author didn't make the lead protagonist entirely likable. Cora is a spoiled American rich girl he doesn't really understand anything outside of her sphere or try to. but she does have a burden in that her mother only wanted her to marry an English titled person regardless of how she felt about them.

I have won this book through a contest here on goodreads. When I first got it, I was excited. Here was a book that's thick and big. It's got a great cover. Plus, I got it for free.

Cora Cash is a rich American Heiress. She is the main character of the book. She is very spoiled; She never failed to use her money to be attractive. She is beautiful and wanted by a long list of suitors. At first, she sounded like someone I wouldn't want to associate myself with. Spoiled and Pretty wasn't a good combination. The author, fortunately, made her likeable.

I, however, had a problem with her husband, Ivo. He isn't likeable, charming, or the good kind of mysterious. His declared motives went against his actions. The explanation the author gave us at the end of the book was lacking. It did not make me like Ivo. He was not given enough of a redeeming moment. He did things that were very hypocrital.

Cora did have character development. She turned from a lovesick heiress to a mother who can make her own choices.

Since the author wanted to be accurate, I think she hit something. I did like that she had so much details. It was very nice, trying to imagine Cora's beautiful dress.

Overall, the book is a good read. It's something that you must read for relaxing. It is a beach book. While there are parts I wanted to skip or parts that I wanted to go the other way, it was good enough to spend time on.

I give this book a 2.5 star

Fun, easy read!

I fell in love with this author. I love Downton Abbey and this was a great book that expounded on the English culture in that time period.
