A very good exploration of the definition of justice and to whom as well as in which situations it should apply to what degree. Thought-enspiring.

Read-alike for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo... looks like it starts off with kidnapped kids, so probably pretty dark. Hoping it has the same tone, been reading all over the place this month!

*Update: This book had a much more gruesome storyline than any of Larrson's work, but the tone is similar. More preachy in its resolution, but an enjoyable read.

Fails to Bechdel Test fantastically - the only female characters are the rape victims or the mothers of the rape victims.

A few years ago I read out of sequence three seconds and always planned to try more of this series. this is the first in the series and whilst particularly horrible in terms of crime the plot and characterisation was good. It did feel a little like the first in a series in that the writers threw everything into it including public rioting, prison drama, and a side plot of vigilantes attacks on potential paedophiles, but overall it was a page turner although again I'd emphasise that as the crimes relate to children it is not at times an easy read, I will read more in the series as I liked the typically grumpy detective Grens.

The end made me sad, I couldn't believe Bernt Lund as a real person and I could've done with a few less descriptions of semen dripping from dead 6-year-olds vagina's but I can't deny that this was both gripping and entertaining.

This was the first book by the writing duo Roslund and Hellström that I read, but it was certainly not my last. While it's been a while since I read the book, I see I rewarded it five stars.

I remember it as thought-provoking. It's not so much the murder mystery, but the questions that arise afterwards that form this book. While the topic and the crimes are disturbing, I really enjoyed the book.

I read this one when it was called "Pen 33".

I've read three other books by these authors, gave
them all 4 stars. But this one is not really up to
par with them. It's not much of a thriller
although some horrible things happen in it.
It's much more about the aftermath of a crime
of pedophilia when the criminal is known.

Not much of Evert Grens in this one and just not
much beyond a lukewarm telling of a story.
