True Crime is not for the faint of heart. This book touches upon some very dark topics so please make sure to check the trigger warnings before reading. Now, normally I love dark books. This one though was missing something. I felt like one minute we had brother and sister making some... bad decisions, and then the next minute it becomes months later and the two are no longer together. It was really strange because I felt like the book was missing the middle part! I had to go back and re-read the chapter because I thought I skipped over one entirely! I didn't though it just... jumped to another part really quickly. Aside from that I didn't really have any problems with the books aside from the fact that I think it would have been fantastic had it been a longer story.

Interesting. Short read that still felt taxing. Felt incomplete in some ways. Wanted a bit more?

the pacing and language makes this book feel like southern heat, you can hear the flies buzzing as you read. Really beautiful, fragments of a broken girl, grotesque.

did I get into this because of the actual true crime the author found herself experiencing? yes. I wish the best for her and I understand her desire to completely disappear from the extreme horror world after that.

There are about 5 pages in the second half of this book that tell some hard truths and say them very well.

The rest of it is the most gratuitously violent, worthless piece of shit I’ve ever read. (And that’s from someone who had a dissertation chapter on James Ellroy and stanned Chuck Palahniuk longer than was healthy).

Thanks to goodreads for the free e copy.

4 stars. Wow, that was seriously messed up. A lot of turned my stomach so bad and I couldn't believe what I was reading but it was so good. I really liked the author's writing style. I think she did a really good with the setting and the characters, especially Suzy, for this to be a short story. It was addicting, disturbing, and intriguing. I wish it had been longer but for its length it is a complete story I just wanted more. I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for something dark and twisted.
