I heard about this one in the Twitterverse and I’m glad I picked it up. This is an intense and heart-wrenching short novel that is everything a horror novel should be. This is a story that shocks you at the start and leaves you empty and sorrowful. I’m very happy to find this new voice in the genre and recommend it to others, just don’t be faint of heart if you are going to read it. This is some heavy stuff.

True Crime by Samantha Kolesnik is a book that's been on my TBR since September 21st 2021, so it took me close to a year to get around to reading. It was added to Kindle Unlimited, so I jumped on it as soon as I saw it. I'm not 100% sure how to feel, and I should've written my review the day I finished reading it.
There were points that made me uncomfortable, and questionable decisions from the POCs threw me for a loop. There were heavily avoidable situations that could've been avoided by Suzy, but the trauma she endured makes those decisions hazy. I didn't like Suzy as a character, and her choices at the end of the novella were upsetting. She didn't change, there was no development.
Good book, but needed more.

This was a really sad book. I wasn't expecting the level of abuse Suzy faced kinda understand how she went off the deepend. I was really hoping things turned out differently but instead it just got more sad. This book really reflects on how women's bodies are treated which adds another level to the complete dread you feel while reading it.
the way that the author told the story so effectively in such few pages amazed me. this one was so raw and real and you could just feel that.
