a character-driven mystery once again, a very enjoyable setting and an unexpected ending.
i guessed who the murderer was before the revelation, but not the motive nor how complicated and deep it was.
in the end, justice is not given to the murderer as barnaby fails to produce any proof, and this is the type of ending that is very rare in murder mystery novels which makes it even more enjoyable.
overall : i'm a whore for cottagecore murders, especially with so much detail given when describing atmospheres or people.
❌❌SPOILER BELOW❌❌
and starting a book with the name of the murderer??? caroline graham i love you

Read all in the series up to book 5. Consistent and solid cozy crime series with above average character development, especially the compelling but detestable Troy.

This wasn't my most favorite of the series but I still love it dearly. It was also a clear case of the TV series not following the books.
