Meh. I think this series has run its course.

Definitely not a Stieg Larsson.
Not a Lisbeth Salander novel.
Not well written.
Yes, I read it because I wanted to know what cool stuff would happen at the end.
PS none

It’s hard to live up to Steig Larsons Millennium series but Karin Smirnoff does a good job. Mikael has travelled north to his daughter’s wedding, Pernilla is to marry local councillor Henry Salo. Henry is planning a large wind farm and one of the bidders for the project is a criminal corporation.
It’s always good to catch up with Lisbeth and Mikael and the introduction of Svala , Lisbeth’s niece, was interesting and I hope she’s in future books. A good addition to the series.

This was, at times, a good, fast paced novel with an intriguing plot. But the more I read it, the more I thought to myself how much different Mikael and Lisbeth sound with this new author. Characters can and do change but.....by this much? Methinks no.

I loved the original Girl with the Dragon tattoo trilogy. I don’t know if I’ve changed or if the writer isn’t as good but I found this painful! Lisbeth was not in it for a long time. I had a hard time keeping track of the plot. After a while I found myself disinterested in the outcome and just wanted the book to be over.

This was a disappointment. I wanted to enjoy this new addition to the Millenium Series, but it was so gratuitous, and somewhat unclear. The author jumps from several perspectives and timelines which is difficult to follow.
Additionally, there isn't really a mystery at the heart of this novel like we have seen in the previous books. This was more of a gory thriller about drug lords and rich people in Norway.
Perhaps I am missing something as an American reader or perhaps there will be changes to the final edit (I read an arc). However, I'm sorry to say that this will likely mark the end of my time with the series.
