I have been a big fan of the Millennium series from the start.  It can be tough when a new author continues a story where previous authors have left off, especially when the original trilogy was executed so well, but I thought this was a decent attempt.  I enjoyed the plot and introduction of Lisbeth's niece, but I had wished that there had been more back and forth between Lisbeth and Blomkvist as seen in previous books.  I think this book was set up to continue into a third trilogy and beyond so I am interested to see where that may go.

Being a lover of the first 3 books, I was hoping this book would be just as good of not better but unfortunately it just didn’t hit the mark. I felt like Lisbeth was a different person (maybe that was the intention I’m not sure) but it just fell flat. Maybe if I hadn’t read the first 3 books I would have scored higher. A lot of things were left unanswered as well or were forgotten or maybe they’ll write another book. I probably wouldn’t read another book in this series written by this author though.

I listened to the audiobook and maybe that’s where I went wrong but this was terrible. It was sooo hard to follow..so many characters and I’m still not even a 100% sure what happened? I also didn’t care enough about the entire story to really try hard to figure out who was who…just no thanks. Big disappointment, I’ve loved all the others.

[ebook] oof. How far Lizbeth has fallen. Probably the last of this series I’ll read.

I was not impressed with Karin Smirnoffs writing. It was choppy and confusing which character was speaking and when. It would have been a DNF except I have enjoyed this series til now. I don't think a first time author should have tried to continue this series. I hope the next one is better.

I enjoyed this book. I have to say I don't really quite know how to feel though in the grand scheme of the series. I think I will have to wait and see what Smirnoff has for the other two installments of the trilogy she has decided to take on. I think she kept to the characters pretty well. I admit Lizbeth felt a bit different. I suppose that's to be expected. People grow and change, I would never expect her to be the same person as she was in "Dragon" even if Larsson was still alive to write her. So I want to see what else she has to offer. I really am just thrilled to read more in this world and with these characters so I guess my bar is also quite low and you'd have to REALLY get them wrong for me to hate it.
