This book follows in the same style and legacy as the previously written books by Stieg Larsson. Mikael Blomkvist is headed to the town of Gasskas, where his daughter is marrying the local big shot on the town council. The town is in the midst of change as electricity is extremely cheap and corporations are looking to profit from the resources in the town. A new character appears, Svala, who is the niece of Lisbeth Salander. Svala has a disease that doesn’t allow her to feel pain even with broken bones. She is much older than her young years and the relationship between Svala and Lisbeth is interesting.
The story doesn’t mention Lisbeth for quite some time. It revolves more around the goings on in the town of Gasskas and with Mikael. The writing format/style was very similar to Stieg Larsson so if you enjoyed his style, you will enjoy this book. The story was interesting and there were definitely elements of bad men, greed and intertwined plots. Enjoy this next chapter.

Horrible de principio a fin, con demasiado relleno y personajes que no llevan a nada. Mikael y Lisbeth son básicamente personajes secundarios, un nuevo personaje que es una niña insoportable, seguidilla de sucesos que habrían sido iguales incluso sin la participación de los supuestos protagonistas y secundarios, muchas partes forzadas. Además de ese montón de referencias a libros pasados y las películas como para hacer creer al lector que la autora conoce a los personajes o al menos los estudió.
A este libro le sobran como 400 páginas, de lo peor que he leído en mucho tiempo.

Si arriverà a dieci?
Wikipedia che il progetto di Stieg Larsson era di scrivere dieci libri, nella serie Millennium. Non so se chi detiene 'Millennium', cioè l'insieme di rivista, personaggi, ambientazioni, intenda perseguire l'obiettivo nonostante l'ideatore del tutto, cioè Larsson sia riuscito a scriverne solo tre.
Però questo settimo episodio mi è piaciuto poco. È una storia a tratti pulp, a tratti di denuncia sociale e di corruzione, a tratti di esplorazione dell'estremo nord scandinavo. Però non vi ho ritrovato la forza dei primi tre libri a firma di Larsson - questo vale anche per quelli firmati da Lagercrantz - e non ho ritrovato i due personaggi principali, Lisbeth e Kalle Blomkvist.
Mi par di capire che la faccenda dei diritti su Millennium sia un giallo in sé e non ho capito però se è finita e se sì come. Che il progetto arrivi a compimento, cioè vedano la luce dieci libri, non mi spiacerebbe. Però credo che bisognerebbe riprendere il filo e capire dove si può arrivare.
p.s. però espressioni come "i ricordi le piovono addosso come Becquerel su Chernobyl" o i cortocircuiti in cui un personaggio dice a Lisbeth Salander che assomiglia a Noomi Rapace, cioè l'attrice che l'ha interpretata sul grande schermo, ecco, queste cose spero non ci siano più ;)

I liked the original Steig Larson Millennium books but they seriously need to stop trying to milk that cow.
Salander as an exceptionally capable traumatised woman is fine when you suspend your disbelief, but that we now have a young niece also with exceptional abilities and life-long trauma is just getting ridiculous.
The new bad guys are unintentionally hilarious and can't be taken seriously. The recycling of the earlier bad guys is just annoying.
No more Millennium books for me.
