The Girl in the Eagle's Talons is an interesting continuation of the series. Although there has been much criticism from the community, I didn’t find the book as awful as people make it seem.
The book is fairly paced; it’s a bit slow at the beginning but makes up for it midway through. The story unfolds through various viewpoints, offering insights and building intrigue at times, which is interesting in a sense, but it can also cause confusion in certain sections.
The distinction between characters' thoughts and spoken words is sometimes unclear at the beginning, which adds to the complexity of the narrative. However, once you get used to it, it becomes much easier to determine which thoughts and spoken words belong to which character.
In the end, it’s a very nice and fast read. Now, it's time to wait for the continuation of the story.

So happy this series is continuing! Loved this addition to the series!
2.5 to maybe 3, I dunno. So many cool ideas and options tossed aside for some truly bewildering choices and directions for the plot. Even the order in which information was revealed was aggravating. The villains were cartoonishly evil for little reason. The hokey coincidence of every major player from the series landing in this weird little town and having intertwining family sagas was a bit too much. The suspension of disbelief only gets worse when you realize the author wants you believe that Pernilla is somehow this stupid?
I definitely don’t want to give Smirnoff a harder time for the same things that Larsson and Lagercrantz did, but the sexual violence felt particularly intense and upsetting. It’s possible I’ve just reached an age, as a woman, where I tire of these horrors being part of a story. And maybe I do expect more thoughtful treatment from fellow women, idk.
Finally, maybe it’s because I’m now an adult cognizant of world politics in a way that I wasn’t when book 1 came out, but the hamfisted politically commentary inserts - many of which I agree with ideologically!!! - felt clunky and unhelpful. I do think prior authors were similarly bad with some of their rambling and tangents, so not unique to this book per se.
I will say that I appreciated that 90% of the time Lisbeths characterization still felt recognizable. But some of her choices by the end are truly bananas, even for her. And it leads to an unsatisfying ending.

Yeah, no, this really wasn't it. The Characters didn't feel anything like themselves and the book was either confusing or incapable of keeping my attention (or you know, both.)

I may have skipped a tale or two, but this Lisbeth wasn't nearly as fascinating as the Salander I remember. Perhaps that's why they introduced a niece (family relation uncertain) with some of those Salander qualities, but it didn't quite work.
There are too many characters doing too many things. There is a whole lot crammed in at the end including an eco-villain (Is that a thing?). I didn't care much about any of them good or evil, but it didn't take much to power through, so it certainly could have been worse.
Note to self: Don't pick up Millennium #8.

Didn't enjoy it as much as the original trilogy. It was too much all over the place for me.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about reading a new book in the series written by someone else but this book was a pleasant surprise. It still has the heart and soul of the other books with another exciting story about kidnap and murder and I was not disappointed. I love the two main characters in this series although for me I would like them to be together but that’s just the romantic. In me. Give it a go.
I have grown up reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series and have always loved all of the books. I was so excited to see that there was a new addition to the series and that the new book was written by a woman. The book itself was good and I enjoyed the story very much. I felt like the author kept true to the characters of Lisbeth and Blomkvist. As much as I enjoyed the story and the return to the characters, throughout the book the transitions from points of view and flashbacks felt very disjointed and the ending of the story felt a little bit rushed. Overall the book was good and I look forward to more of this author's contributions to the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series.
