One of the worst books I’ve ever encountered. Thought that the smut might save it, but all the over-the-top, unnecessary, embarrassing (for the writer) adjectives used in writing the seggsyscenes was laughable when not cringey. I would love to cite examples, just for the humour of it, but I can’t be bothered. Felt like someone sat with a thesaurus to come up with words as ridiculous as possible to make it feel penetrative (see what I did there?)

The cover on this book is embarrassing 🙈

I knew this book would be trashy listening. I did now know it would be the worst. Tropes in this book: playboy billionaire, he saves her from danger, she’s a virgin, mysterious illness puts a timeline on her fertility, he needs a fake wife, she agrees for sperm donations, the one girl he can’t have is the only one he wants, crazy ex-girlfriend, fake pregnancy of the ex almost breaks them up, evil stepmother almost breaks them up, he gets hot over impregnating the used to be virgin, and turns out miss innocent is a dirty girl. Some of the writing in this book is so bad that my husband asked if the editor was limited in the number of times they could write a red “ew!” next to choice phrasing. This should have been a DNF book, but I’m ashamed to say I did finish it.

Love conquers all

It was supposed to be fake. A marriage to help Hayden secure his fathers fortune and to give Penny the baby she so desperately wanted before disease made her sterile. But it turned into a heartwarming story of two souls coming together and fighting to save their relationship. A happily ever after was never a promise but it sure was the end result. A great read.

This may be the worst thing I have ever read. This man kidnaps and basically assaults his ex-girlfriend (even if she is crazy this is illegal and just as insane). This guy creeps me out to no end. But, to each their own.

It wasn’t amazing but I had a fun time so that’s the most import thing! It was cringey as I knew it would be and cliche but still good.

I didn’t like anything about this book as the plot wasn’t interesting for me, and the characters’ behaviours were annoying.

I didn’t like the character interactions as the characters were annoying and didn’t really think about what they were doing/saying.

I didn’t like Penny because her behaviour made no sense and contradicted what she said. For example, she says that she wants to have a baby as soon as possible, and yet she doesn’t do anything or even think about it after they get married. When Hayden asks her when she wants to do it, she gets angry and tells him that she’ll decide. Another thing that made me dislike her was how she constantly talks about keeping their relationship professional, but the one time she sees Hayden talking to a woman she gets angry and jealous and leaves the party, without even going over to them first.

Throughout the whole book, Hayden and Penny don’t spend any time together (unless they’re in bed) and they don’t get to know each other.

The conflict at the end was the worst. It was a lie that Penny doesn’t even try to talk to Hayden about. As soon as it happens, she decides to leave and when Hayden manages to catch her before she leaves, she doesn’t even listen to him.

This book wasn’t for me, and it definitely makes me not want to try other books by this author, let alone continue this series.
