Wow, what a book!!!! I loved loved loved being inside the head of a sociopath/psychopath! The narrator did a fantastic job of making it extra creepy! One of the best books I've read in 2020!

What I Did Like:
-I expected the bad guy twist to be big (as it is in thrillers). Even though it wasn’t... there was a big(ger) twist that shocked me so much I actually had to close the book for a second. Love that.
-The ending worked. No spoilers but that lightning—oof I loved that. Didn’t see it coming, loved it.
-Premise. This entire concept of taking pieces of people from touch was amazing. It is well explored here, the connections to psychics are well placed, and it worked for this storyline. Very intriguing and very well written exploration.
-The importance of human interaction is explored in great ways here. The author makes big points about love and friendship without it really being the main storyline.

Who Should Read This One:
-Want a supernatural twist on psychological thriller?
-Supernatural fan who wants to try psychological and slightly more realistic than some stuff available?
My Rating: 5 Stars. The supernatural element will appeal to many, the thriller element will appeal to others, and the relationships are satisfying. I loved this one.

Wow, what an intense ride! It didn’t take long for the story to grab hold of my attention, and once it did, I was a goner. The level of intensity held tight all the way through to the end, and I had no idea where or how it was going to end. And that ending, well, let’s just say it was definitely not predictable. I very much enjoyed this book! The narration seemed a little abrupt at times, a bit maybe harsh, but overall it was very well done, with good feeling and intonation woven into the characters. Definitely would recommend this book if you enjoy a good psychological suspense story that keeps you on your toes.

I received this audiobook free in exchange for my fair and honest review.

This book was absolutely incredible, it had me hooked from the beginning. Tessa was such a strong character and I couldn’t imagine losing pieces of myself and gaining pieces of someone else when I touch them. I’ve found it absolutely terrifying when Tessa touches a serial killer and takes on his memories and feelings of killing, it could’ve destroyed her but it didn’t. She fought against him and even when she thought she was losing herself she never gave up.

All the content warnings. Just, all of them. There is a lot of intense in this book, so be prepared for that going in.

That said, Bits & Pieces is so good. I'm not normally a thriller person--it's just not my genre--but I was thoroughly engrossed with this one from beginning to end. I suspect the spec fic aspect of it helped keep me, a long-time fantasy reader, engaged.

Hosmer does an excellent job through the reader red herrings and some major curve-balls as the book progresses. If you think you know what's going on... I promise you don't. There were a few things that were really unexpected towards the end that just hit in a really powerful way. I literally sobbed.

I'm looking forward to reading the sequel, but I think I'm going to need a month to decompress first.

Predictable plot and dry writing. The author seems to over describe every mundane transition between locations.
Characters are flat, with no real distinguishing human traits, instead made up for by introducing supernatural elements (psychics and flashes) as the main drivers of plot. Id ask any reader to tell me something they remember about anyone other than the main character.
Tessa’s obsession with Jonas’ appearance is cringey.
It was a struggle to make it through this one.
