While the romance was cute, I do feel like it kinda detracted from the main storyline which was two sisters trying to figure out their family history and comparing themselves to each other, to their detriment. And for that, it was good. If I was just rating it as a romance, it would be very bad and for that reason, I lowkey wish that the romance just wasn't in the book.
Anyways, great story about family and comparisons and I really liked it!
contains cursing, teenage romance, queer side characters

This cute YA novel is about family, friendships, and the very real struggles of being a teen. Emma Lord captures these teens perfectly.

Abby does a DNA test when her best friend/major crush seeks to find out more about his background. Abby does not expect the test results to reveal that she has a sister just a little older than her. A sister who is a well known Instagram influencer and living only a few miles away. After meeting her sister Savannah (Savvy) they hatch a plan to figure out just what happened and how they are related. The only problem is that Savvy is headed to summer camp. Abby easily convinces her parents she too should attend summer camp.
⠀
So begins a summer at camp, a summer of self-discovery, family discovery, love, and figuring out who you are and where you come from. This book is truly delightful.

Such a sweet, wholesome book. While this book is predicated on a long-lost (or rather, surprise) sister, this is just an opening for a story. The book itself uses this plot line as an entrance into the middle of the characters’ lives and wraps the reader up in the characters’ overlapping and entertaining lives, conflicts, and relationships. Much like real life, just because one bombshell or hard situation is dropped on you (in this instance a sister!) does not mean the rest of your life stops for you to solve or face the big situation. I really enjoyed Lord’s ability to make the reader feel like they dropped right into the middle of these peoples’ lives and can already understand and connect with their universal emotions and challenges. A few of the twists were predictable, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
