2021 is already delivering some amazing books. Emma Lord wrote on of my favorite YA contemporaries of 2020 and I think she will making that list again this year. This book was difficult, heartbreaking at times, and so wonderfully impactful. I definitely teared up more than once throughout this book.
I loved the strong emphasis on family and friend relationships. This really explores what it means to be family and what it takes to be a good friend. And Emma Lord has such a knack for writing realistic and believable teenage characters. Abby is such a difficult character read from at times because she is flawed and 16. She's stubborn and hard headed and make choices that drove me absolutely wild. But that's what being that age is and I really appreciated that perspective. Abby does not have her life together and figured out and I think a lot of teens will appreciate and relate to her character.
The family dynamics and relationships in here were heavy and tough but this story always had a feeling of lightness to it. There is so much humor and wit weaved into this to balance out some of the more difficult topics.
This slow burn romance was everything. I was screaming by the 3/4 point for these two just admit their feelings. But it was so worth the wait. I absolutely loved these characters together!
Overall I'm just in love with how Emma Lord writes relationships. This book was absolutely wonderful and I already can't wait for her next release!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for supplying me of an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
In You Have a Match by Emma Lord, Abby and her two friends take a DNA test. Abby is reluctant and not actually that interested, so she is shocked when the results come back and reveal that she has a full-blood older sister that she knows nothing about! After the two meet, Abby realizes that she and her "secret sister," Savvy, are nothing alike. However, Abby decides to attend the summer camp where Savvy is a counselor in an attempt to get to know her sister better and for the two to try to unravel their parents' secrets.
I haven't read Emma Lord's first novel, Tweet Cute, but I have heard great things about it and was looking forward to this book being a fun, cute, relaxing read. I was not disappointed! The summer-camp setting was entertaining, but my favorite part of the book was how genuine all of the characters were and seeing both Abby and Savvy develop throughout the book.
While Abby and Savvy clash at first, they get to know each other at camp and start to act like true sisters—in the ways they fight and the ways that they support each other. Both sisters have anxiety, but deal with it very different ways. Abby is impulsive and sometimes reckless and deals with her anxiety by ignoring and running from her problems. Opposite to her, Savvy copes by being extremely organized and following rules. Seeing the two coming together and bonding was so heartwarming!
For a book that dealt with a whole lot of issues and multiple plot lines—secret sisters, friends-to-lovers romance, camp shenanigans, and a whole lot of parental drama—I was incredibly impressed with how balanced the book felt. It didn't feel like one aspect of the book overpowered any of the others, which isn't uncommon in these types of books.
Overall, I greatly enjoyed this story! I laughed (a lot) and finished the book smiling. It was the perfect happy, heartwarming, fun read that I was looking for. I highly recommend this one!

This is one of my most anticipated YA releases of next year, I loved Tweet Cute and gave it 4 stars for being a wholesome and modern love story.
This was no different, the beginning was a bit slow however I feel that it was made worse as I am in the middle of a reading slump, which is of course not the books fault, but the second half of this book I flew through.
I felt that the camp setting was really immersive, as I’m English it’s not something we really have over here but the writing made me feel like I was actually there!
Watching Abby and Savvy’s relationship grow from strangers to sisters was absolutely heart-warming and I really enjoyed it. I’d have loved to see more pranks though, that aspect gave me massive ‘The Parent Trap’ vibes (the Lindsay Lohan version of course) and I wanted more of it!
The romance was the one point where I felt it was lacking, the two characters were clearly pining over each other for a very long time, I would have loved some more angst, some more will they won’t they.
Overall though, I really enjoyed it – Emma Lord has become an auto-read author for me after 2 books which is quite impressive. I can’t wait to see what else she brings out in the future!

I was a bit hesitant about the book when I first started reading it, but it soon won over my heart clear as day.
Cute, a little overstuffed plot-wise, but with depth and a lot of heart. Loved the friendships! I liked Tweet Cute more but I really enjoyed this! Can't wait to read whatever Emma writes next.
You Have A Match by Emma Lord
This book was not on my TBR but I wanted a light hearted book after reading some darker stuff this month. I had seen this book all over bookstagram and I thought “why not?” and BOY AM I HAPPY I DID! I needed this book in my life. Humor, tears, mystery, INSTAGRAMMERS, and the LGBTQ community. Do you remember “Parent Trap”? You Have A Match is the teenage version, and I AM HERE FOR IT!!!
Savy and Abby have never met, but their lives are more intertwined with each other than they could have ever imagine. Same friends, same love for photos, same love life problems and oh yeah, same parents.
Without giving spoilers, if you’re looking for a truly heart-warming story, this is it. I enjoyed that the main focus wasn’t a love story, but two sisters finding each other. The book also touches on different types of loss and how there are so many ways of coping with it. This book sparked a conversation with my husband about what our parenting looks like and what we would do if we were in these parents’ shoes. This books setting is mostly a summer camp on an island, which made me love it even more.
Over all, I highly recommend this book. Please add this baby to your TBR!
