I have no idea why I thought this was about a romance match, not a relative match, but I was way off base with what I thought this might be. In my head I thought this was some Sci Fi advanced technology matching service book but it is not that at all. It's just a book about life as a teenager and a coming of age story with the issues that come from the specific scenarios in question. It's down to earth, relatable, and easy to read, with likeable characters and an enjoyable story. I read it in one day, so I'd say it's pretty good.

Review: As an adoptee, I was able to connect early on in the story but then I got grown and realized that this was turning into another YA level novel and I got kind of checked out in the middle.

Read October 2023

Cute story, centered on the dna matching trend of the past few years. Family secrets and secret love, all in a cute and quick YA style.

a book suggested if you like “The Parent Trap” and because that’s my favorite movie ever then I knew I had to read it.
Such an adorable story very much like The parent trap with a few differences but Savy being Annie and Abi being Hallie and an added on love story.
I enjoyed this book a lot and how simple, fun and light hearted it was and the ending was adorable.

“It’s hard to describe someone when you feel less of what they were and more of what they aren’t anymore.”

I really enjoyed Emma Lord's debut [b:Tweet Cute|45045129|Tweet Cute|Emma Lord|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1558456354l/45045129._SY75_.jpg|66924806] when I read it last year. I knew I wanted to read her second book to find out if the same magical feelings stuck around. I wasn't disappointed. You Have a Match follows teenager Abby who signed up for a DNA test to push her crush and good friend Leo to find out more about his own ancestry. When the results come in, Abby is shocked to discover she has a (slightly) younger sister she knew nothing about. Even more surprising is the fact that Abby's sister, Savannah, is an Instagram star. When Abby and Savannah meet in person, they decide the next logical thing is to get to know each other at summer camp. What follows is a story of figuring out who you are when you already thought you knew.

This story was both fun and heartwarming. In a sense, it reminded me of The Parent Trap simply because two girls come together at a summer camp to find out more about each other and their families. Abby was very relatable: she's a kid who doesn't have straight A's as so many of our young adult protagonists have. Abby's not sure what life after high school is going to look like for her and she's not sure she's ever going to have the same friendship with Leo after things got awkward. What teenager hasn't gone through those awkward growing pains of friendships that might be a relationship but no one is sure?

Upper middle school and high school readers are bound to enjoy this story, as will all contemporary YA fans.
